The Kohala Mountain Music Project

Short | Documentary | 16:30

The band “The Kohala Mountain Boys” goes looking for old, unrecorded songs referred to as “heirloom songs" written and kept by the old families of Kohala. What they find are two songs by two Hawaiian men from the same family. In the course of learning the songs and documenting their respective composers’ information, it soon becomes obvious to the band that the keepers of these songs, the related daughters of the two composers, are unaware of each other’s existence. Directed by Kihei Nahale-a and Boots Lupenui
